Sexton's Cottage |
Set in the Norfolk village of Thornage, Sexton's Cottage is a charming artist's cottage, about 200 years old, constructed of brick and flint with a pantile roof and a number of unusual features. It has recently been completely modernised but retains its traditional character and is furnished in sympathetic style, mostly with genuine antiques. Thornage is an attractive flint village, typical of Norfolk, in the middle of rolling farmland, only four miles from the sea at Blakeney and two miles from the market town of Holt. The village scenes from the film "The Go-Between" were shot on the village green. |

The coastline offers a wide variety of scenery; long sandy beaches at Holkham, boat-yards at Wells, cliff-top walks at Weybourne and Sheringham, marshes (bird sanctuaries) at Morston and Salthouse, sailing and fishing at Blakeney and Cley. These are all within a few miles, while the Broads and the cathedral city of Norwich are within easy reach. A comprehensive file of information on the area will be found in the cottage, and a selection of good literature on the bookshelves. |
